Painted Palettes – My Personal Color Swatches
A quiet afternoon, a brush in hand... and from those first strokes, a palette begins to take shape — one that will guide your every future painting. Each time new colors arrive, it's worth pausing to create your own. You'll return to it again and again.
These are mine today — but soon, they'll be yours:
Each color swatch includes the name of the manufacturer. In the case of Holbein paints, you'll notice labels like (EU) or (US) — a small trace of my early confusion. 😊
The (EU) label refers to traditional gouache (in metal tubes), while (US) refers to acrylic gouache (in white plastic tubes). Years ago, here in Europe, only the gouache line was available — if we wanted acrylic gouache, we had to order from the US. As a beginner, I had no idea there was a difference between gouache and acrylic gouache — but I did notice the tubes! So metal meant Europe, and plastic meant America. I still use these swatches today and I'm sharing them with you exactly as they are. Where available, I've also included tube numbers, so you can easily look up any shades you like.
By now, I'm quite sure you're completely overwhelmed — and honestly, that's perfect. 😊
There's only one thing left to do: let yourself be tempted by all these colors… and guided by my words in our WABEL Co. PDF Art Lessons.
I can't wait to see you there. I believe you'll learn, you'll discover, and — more than anything — you'll find something … within yourself. That's exactly what happened to me, and still happens, in my journey with folk art painting.
It's a passion — not just for painting itself, but for peace, for joy, for quiet beauty in everyday life. A soft, gentle corner in a noisy world — but never without smiles, passion, and tenderness. Quite the opposite.
